ARTS ACT HOMEFRONT FUNDING FOR 'SMOKESCREEN'

Feeling a huge sense of gratitude (and relief!) at being one of the very lucky Canberran artists to receive an artsACT Homefront grant, as part of an emergency response to the financial impact of the covid-19 pandemic. Like so many others in the performing arts, my income has been completely devastated, with a year's worth of projects suddenly wiped off the calendar. This funding will make all the difference to me in getting through this difficult time, and, as I redirect my energies towards writing, will help me to eventually return to the stage with exciting new work.

Smokescreen is a play for two actors about the dark arts of manipulating the message, imagining a clandestine meeting between two advertising execs, as they sow the seeds for the fake news culture of the 21st century.
