READING MILLICENT ARMSTRONG'S PLAYS AT THE GUNNING ARTS FESTIVAL
April 12, 2021
I had the pleasure of joining Heather Keens, Holly Ross, and Dianna Nixon on-stage for a revival of one-act plays by Millicent Armstrong for the Gunning Arts Festival, It's the first time these works have been performed in decades, and it was fitting to do so in the locality where Millicent Armstrong spent much of her life, farming & writing. We performed the rehearsed readings of four of Armstrong's plays at the Dalston Town Hall and the Picture House Gallery & Bookshop in Gunning.
These atmospheric early-20th century 'Australian Gothic' works were being presented by Dianna Nixon's Music Theatre Projects Ltd as a satellite event of the Gunning Arts Festival, and as part of the year long celebration of Gunning's Bicentenary. There's hope that the project can grow into a full production next year.
